Take a tour of the new display No god but God: The Art of Islam, hear from James Bennett, Curator of Asian Art in conversation with invited scholars of Muslim art, then experience the spiritual sound of the Oud played by Syrian master musician, Zuhir Naji.

Musical Performance

Experience the transcendent sound of the Oud while you wander the Gallery’s first major display of Islamic art which encompasses a geographical span extending from Morocco to Australia. The Oud will be played by Syrian master musician Zuhir Naji.

Join us for an in-conversation with James Bennett, Curator of Asian Art and Dr Muchammadun, professor in Community Development Studies in the Department of Islamic Community Development, State Islamic University of Mataram, Indonesia for an insightful talk surrounded by the works of art on display in No god but God: The Art of Islam.
